Interview Questions

1.  What’s one strategy your business used recently that created meaningful growth?

It’s been about really leaning into relationships. I’ve learned over the years that when you take great care of the people who already trust you, good things tend to follow. We’ve spent more time talking with clients about their families, their worries, and what they want life to look like down the road. Those deeper conversations have naturally led to stronger relationships and growth that feels good and sustainable.

2.  How has AI or technology changed the way you operate or serve clients?

Technology has helped make things smoother and simpler. We use tools to help with meeting notes, reminders, and follow-ups so nothing gets missed. That means I can be more present with clients and less distracted by paperwork. At the end of the day, the technology just supports the relationship. It doesn’t replace it.

3.  What’s one thing you stopped doing that actually helped your business grow?

I stopped trying to carry everything myself. Playing professional football taught me early on that you win as a team, not as an individual. The same is true in business. Trusting others, asking for help, and letting go of control has made the business stronger and has given me more energy for the things that matter most.

4.  What’s a customer insight you discovered that changed the way you do business?

Most people aren’t looking to be overwhelmed with information. They want to feel understood. When I shifted my focus to explaining things more simply and meeting people where they are, everything changed. Clients felt more comfortable asking questions, and conversations became more open and meaningful.

5. If a business had to improve ONE area to grow faster in the next 90 days, what should it be?

Staying in touch. A quick call, a thoughtful email, or a simple check-in goes a long way. People remember how you make them feel, and consistent follow-up shows that you genuinely care

6.  What’s one thing you do consistently that keeps your pipeline healthy?

I try to be a good human first. Whether it’s clients, colleagues, or people I meet through community involvement, I stay connected without any pressure or agenda. Over time, those relationships naturally turn into opportunities.

7.  What’s a decision you made in the last year that had a bigger impact than you expected, and what led you to make it?:

I made a conscious decision to protect time for my family, my health, and the community work that’s important to me. My wife, our kids, and the organizations I’m involved with keep me grounded. When those parts of my life are in a good place, I show up better for clients and for the business.

8.  What’s one process you streamlined that made a noticeable difference in efficiency or results?

We got very intentional about what happens after meetings. Clear notes, clear next steps, and clear follow-up. Clients feel taken care of, and our team knows exactly what needs to happen next. It’s simple, but it makes a big difference.

9. What book, podcast, or resource has influenced your thinking or business decisions lately and why?

I’m a big podcast listener and probably listen to something every day. The New York Times Daily is a go-to for me because it takes one story and really dives deep, which helps me better understand what’s happening in the world beyond just the headlines. I also enjoy TED Talks because they’re short, thoughtful, and usually give me one good idea to reflect on each day. I definitely prefer shorter podcasts, and I’ll admit I listen to most of them at one-and-a-half speed, which may be a little OCD, but it works for me. Staying curious and continuing to learn helps me keep perspective, ask better questions, and ultimately be a better advisor for the people I serve. I am Your Virtual Professional's
3 Key Takeaways

# 1

Relationships are the real growth strategy. Meaningful growth came from going deeper with existing clients—learning about their families, worries, and long-term goals. When people feel understood, trust grows, conversations open up, and opportunities naturally follow

# 2

Technology works best when it supports the human connection. Tools for meeting notes, reminders, and follow-ups keep things organized and ensure nothing falls through the cracks. The payoff isn’t automation—it’s the freedom to be more present with clients and less distracted by administrative tasks.

# 3

Simplicity, teamwork, and consistent follow-up drive sustainable momentum. Clear communication, simple explanations, and structured follow-up after meetings help clients feel comfortable and informed. At the same time, trusting others, staying connected without pressure, and protecting time for family and health keeps leadership grounded and the pipeline healthy.
