HubSpot Certification

My journey to becoming HubSpot certified

My career has had many iterations on the way to becoming HubSpot certified. I started out as a high school teacher and when I could not get a full time job I pivoted using my teaching skills to the corporate world.

My first job I worked at a help desk and did training on proprietary software. It was a great first job in the corporate world. I learned a lot and was able to take the skills I acquired and transition to a technology consulting company.

Once again with the job my knowledge base grew to include teaching project management courses leading quality assurance teams which included a team working on a dot com startup. This was the first time that I used the internet for more than email and checking my stocks. This was long before the days of responsive web design but I had a cube full of computers with different sizes screen with different resolutions and different browsers. Meta tags were hard coded into the site unlike know how we use graphical user interfaces to keywords, meta tags, alt tags to name a few.

That was the late 90’s and there were a lot of opportunities so when the opportunity arose at a Y2K New Year’s Eve party I jumped at it to become the IT Projects director at dot com.

Here is where the story hit a bump in the road the market crashed and I was downsized. I was unemployed before being employed at a municipal government where I had the ability to help design websites for the various departments and I worked there until we purchased the candy store which we owned for almost 2 decades. At the candy store is where I really learned about search engine optimization, email marketing and social media. I honed my web design skills that I had built over the years consulting during the DOT com boom.

Which brings me to this point in my professional journey of doing virtual small business consulting. As I have been growing my small business consulting business I continue to grow my skill as well as certifications as I aim to offer added value to my clients. First I became a certified Google Digital Marketer and now I am adding to my  vitae with my HubSpot certifications.
